Names of Allah

Postby World on Thu Sep 24, 2009 9:52 pm

As-salaamu alaykum all.

Hope that you all had a great Eid.

I would like to start a new blog on the names of Allah.

I would like this to be an interactive blog where everyone participates (the more the contribution the more the continuous reward).

So there is a bit of an incentive (as we all need an incentive now and again to do something good).

I am going to start the ball rolling by being the initial contributor (as it was my idea - and I hope that I get the reward for that).

The idea is that each one of us that knows an authentic name or attribute of Allah to submit their contribution with the reference.

The reason for the reference is that there are many names given by people to Allah but they may not be authentic and so we can weed out these ones from the ones that have been given to us with a reference. That way we learn and remove the doubts.

For those who do not want to make a contribution or are too shy  then the following advice applies :-

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Apostle said :-

"Allah has ninety-nine Names, one-hundred less one; and he who memorized them all by heart will enter Paradise."

[Al Saheeh - Al Bukhari : Volume 9 : 9.489]

This means that we can all benefit and help each other to learn and understand the names of Allah as we all want paradise.

So here goes...

As-salaamu alaykum.

It has been sometime now and still there have not been any contributions to this blog nor any comments.

The ball seems to have rolled back to me ! :(

So here we go again ... (Hopefully somebody will hit the ball before STRIKE 3 !!!)

Just to lend a helping hand as maybe you're all cricketers and not baseball players :-

I am using the following website :-

Also you can print out the names in black & white and get the kids to read and write it and hence learn it - as they colour it in.

Hope that you find this useful.

LOL! Ok i'll be the first.. :D

What age group are you/we pitching these to?

I would recommend a picture to illustrate the meaning of the word. Ok, so you can't really get an illustration of malik.. but Ar'raheem could perhaps have a picture of an animal drinking water from a river...? The thing I am trying to convey here is discussion between parent/teacher and child of what Ar-raheem means.. after all, whats the meaning without the understanding..?

I'm also a little dubious about the font.. it seems a little persian-style?

Other than that.. like the concept and idea. JZK.
